Hufflepuff Books – Hogwarts House Series

I was watching a video by the Clockwork Reader and really liked the idea of picking books based on the Hogwarts House. It was a unique way to think about books, you could either pick it based upon characteristics of the house or what books you think students in a particular house might enjoy. I had a lot of fun doing this and will publish one for each house.

Hufflepuffs are kind, loyal, caring, friendly, hard working, just and so much more.

The characters in the Lunar Chronicles are not only loyal friends but are very hard working. No matter who they are or what their circumstances are, they strive to do their best as Kai does for his country, Cinder does even as she works on robotics, or Cress does stuck in her satellite. If this sounds interesting to you be sure to check out my review for Cinder here!

Anna and the French Kiss Series by Stephanie Perkins
This is just one of those feel-good, contemporary romances (set in Paris, oh la la) that would speak to the kind and caring heart of a Hufflepuff. You see the authentic growth of friendships between the main characters and root for their wellbeing.

Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard Series by Rick Riordan
Loyalty and friendship are incredibly important to Hufflepuffs. I feel that the bond between our main characters Magnus, Sam, Hearthstone, and Blitzen is so important to the series and would resonate with Hufflepuffs.

Hufflepuffs are not only kind and caring but determined to do what is right or just. The characters in these books go through trials and tribulation, but always try to be fair. They strive to change things for the good of their world and the people in it. If this sounds interesting to you be sure to check out my review for These Broken Stars here!

The Selection Series by Kiera Cass
This is another feel good book in which you root for true love to prevail, in the style of the bachelor. The series is addicting and once you start reading you won’t want to put it down. Thankfully, they’re quick reads so you can easily binge read them over a relaxing weekend.

I don’t know about you, but I love Harry Potter and have spent way too much time on Pottermore. I’ve been sorted by J.K. – have you? If not, be sure to go to Pottermore to find out. I’m curious if the house you always identified with is the one you were sorted in, or maybe you feel like you’re very strongly split between two houses. Let me know! What House are you in?

Were there any books or series that you feel fit perfectly in this House that I forgot? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Be sure to check back in two weeks for the next post in this series!

Wow that’s a great way to look at books! I never would have thought to separate books into houses! And this reminds me – I really need to read the Starboard Trilogy!

Thanks! I just wanted to do something different, so I figured I’d start a House series. (Plus I’m obsessed with HP so it’s sort of an excuse to talk about the books without actually putting the books on my recommended lists or tags.)

This is actually so funny because I’m a Hufflepuff, and all the books you chose are either my favorite books or books I’m super super excited to read. I also love this idea, because who doesn’t love Harry Potter. Great post!

Oh my gosh, I’m so happy to hear that! Thank you! I appreciate the comment because I makes me feel like I was able to capture some of the essence of Hufflepuff. I always worry because I’m a Ravenclaw, will I do the other houses justice?

Well you did a great job! I love how you included a book about the strong bonds between friends, because that’s something I love to see in books. My favorite example of that is the friendship in The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord. I also love your reasoning for Anna and the French Kiss, because the growth of relationships (between family members, friends, or romantic partners) often is my favorite part of a book.

I’ve actually never read a book by Emery Lord before, but I definitely have some on my TBR. I’ll have to read one soon!
