Carving Shadows into Gold by Brigid Kemmerer
Forging Silver into Stars, #2
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4)
A solid continuation of the story, Carving Shadows into Gold offers more political intrigue and personal tension, but it doesn’t quite carry the same momentum as the first book. The pacing is slower, and while some character dynamics deepen, it took me longer to get through. The plot remains interesting, and the emotional stakes are there, but a few sections felt plodding. It’s a sequel that adds to the world but doesn’t necessarily elevate the series as a whole.
The writing remains accessible, and fans of the first book will likely want to follow these characters through the next leg of their journey. If you’re already invested, there’s enough payoff to make the read worthwhile. Just be prepared for a more measured pace. This one leans more on emotional introspection than action, and depending on your mood, that can be either a strength or a drawback.
