Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I love the tiny little Hogwarts library book that J.K. Rowling wrote in 2001, even though there isn’t much to it. Although it is still fairly small, Rowling adding some additional information to the book after the events of the Fantastic Beasts movie, which is a must-read. Newt Scamander writes a lovely introduction to the book, with allusions to the events of the movie and events to come that he cannot speak about yet. There is also the addition of some North American creatures, which was lovely to hear about. What makes the audiobook even better is that it is narrated by Eddie Redmayne, who plays Newt Scamander in the movies. It brings a level of authenticity to the story and pulls you in, even though the book is just a chronicling of fantastic beasts (and where to find them). It is only around two hours long, so it is not something that you likely want to buy as it is $15 but it definitely worth the listen. I waited until my library purchased a copy of it and enjoyed my two hours immensely.
