Owlcrate Unboxing – Mythical Creatures (September 2017)

I have purchased Owlcrate before and I did an unboxing for it (Wanderlust and Run Away with the Circus). When I heard the theme, I was really intrigued and knew that I just needed anything to do with mythical creatures (especially because they mentioned Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, dragons… and drumroll please, a Book Beau!) You can watch my unboxing at the end of the post.

You’ve been warned and only spoilers come beyond this point.

I like the art card for this box better than the last one, I would actually consider displaying this. Not only do I love mythical creatures, but I’m a total astronomy nerd so it’s really cool that they turned the creatures into constellations.

I am most torn about this… I want to use it so badly because it is Percy Jackson themed and I’ve never had any fancy bath salts or bath bombs before, but I’m allergic to fragrances, so this sounds like a terrible idea… yet, I am so tempted.

Owlcrates generally come with a little pin and this one has part of the art card’s constellation imagery on it.

This little Hagrid and Buckbeak sticker is precious. No idea what to do with it though…

This tiny dragon coin purse is perfect for, you guessed it, coins. *bah dum tsss* Sorry. Anyway, it’s cute.

Channel your inner mother of dragons with this Dany/GOT-inspired wooden bookmark.

I’m not sure that I like the insinuation that mermaids and unicorns are not real. Come on guys, don’t burst my bubble. But I’ve been using this bookbeau for a while since I received it, I feel like my precious book is protected when I take it out into the scary, destructive world.

DRAGONS! ‘Nuff said.

The theme for next month is: Find Me In The Forest.  The book is “a beautiful magical realism novel all about family, curses and gardens. It has stunning writing, and a gorgeous exclusive cover! And as always it will also come with a signed bookplate and letter from the author! This box has tons of pretty goodies, inspired by The Raven Boys, Harry Potter, Robin Hood, Princess Mononoke and more! There’s a total of SIX awesome items! We recently announced that every box will feature an exclusive candle from @inthewickoftime! We are also including a mug for the first time! It’s extra large for those days when you need a giant cup of tea, and if you’re a Harry Potter fan you’re going to love it!”

As I am not a fan of magical realism, I definitely won’t be getting this box but what do you guys think?

You can watch my unboxing here!

Hope you enjoyed my unboxing, happy reading!

Ooooh, I didn’t know that you weren’t a fan of magic realism. It definitely is…it can be super hit or miss. (I tried reading the book I’m pretty sure that it’s supposed to be about as well, but I’m super confused?) ANYWAY, I loved your unboxing, Kyera, and I’m glad that you enjoyed what you got for the most part. 😀 Wonderful job! 😀

Maybe I’m not totally anti-magical realism? But the ones I’ve read haven’t been a success for me.

Yeah, it really is a weird balance with them. Some just don’t work out at all and just end up being weird?
