Grand Slam Romance by Ollie Hicks
⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3)
Grand Slam Romance is one of the most chaotic books I’ve read in a while. It’s random, unapologetically queer, and full of energy — like someone crammed magical sports, old relationship drama, and an entire fantasy subplot into a single volume and just said, “Sure, why not?” The result is a whirlwind story that’s bursting with something, even if it doesn’t always slow down long enough to land every emotional beat.
What kept me reading was the art — it’s vibrant, expressive, and incredibly cute. The romantic tension is strong, and I appreciated how deeply and messily queer it is from start to finish. That said, the book is doing a lot — almost too much — and that makes it feel slightly unfocused at times. Still, if you’re looking for something proudly queer, chaotic, and uniquely itself, this one’s a fun swing.
