Fugitive Telemetry

Fugitive Telemetry by Martha Wells
The Murderbot Diaries, #6
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read Fugitive Telemetry as book six, expecting it to follow Network Effect — and only realized after finishing that it’s actually set before it. That made more sense in hindsight, especially when ART didn’t show up. Even so, this ended up being a really enjoyable entry. The story functions like a standalone murder mystery, with Murderbot reluctantly pulled into solving a suspicious death on Preservation. Watching it analyze evidence, judge human inefficiency, and navigate awkward conversations made for a highly satisfying read.

This one doesn’t have the emotional depth of some other entries, but it leans into the procedural aspect in a way that worked really well. It’s a smaller, focused story with classic Murderbot energy: dry, sharp, annoyed, and secretly way more invested than it wants to admit. If you’ve ever wanted to see Murderbot play detective while pretending not to care — this is it.
