To Be or Not To Be: A Chooseable-Path Adventure by Ryan North

I was feeling a little nostalgic about choose your own adventures and decided I wanted to seek some out. I picked up Romeo and/or Juliet as well as To Be or Not To Be (Hamlet). They were funny, super quick reads. I honestly felt like I finished my story within ten minutes of opening the book. I tried playing different characters and still read through it super quickly.
Objectively, I’m just a little disappointed by my storyline. I choose to play Romeo rather than Juliet, but in the end, I married the girl (the girl being Juliet) and no one died. What kind of Shakespeare plot is that? Even as Juliet, I ran away from home and eventually married a guy named Orlando who tagged trees with poetry about me. Then I played as Ophelia, invented central air and lived happily ever after with Hamlet. Oh, angsty Hamlet – there has to be some death there, right? Okay, one but then I was the best King ever. I mean, yay me for being awesome but I wanted some drama in my “adventure”. All I got was romance, blech. I’m going to be honest though, being dead ghost King Hamlet Sr was pretty cool.
Overall, these were just silly, quick reads.
