Summer Reads – Top 5 Tuesday

Do you have favourite genre or book to read in the summer? I feel like contemporary books are the most summery, but I’m not good at sticking to a single genre. That being said, these are just cute, feel-good, beach or summery reads.

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme that the lovely Bionic Bookworm does. If you are interested in doing any of her topics on your blog she welcomes it! Don’t forget to check out her upcoming topics if you’re interested in participating in future Top 5’s! Be sure to check out her post here!

My Favourite Summertime Reads:

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

When Dimple Met Rishi and From Twinkle with Love by Sandhya Menon

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (Creekwood, #1)

Simon vs. and Leah on the Offbeat by Becky Albertalli

16068905

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

And to switch it up slightly: graphic novels! Right now I’m reading DC Bombshells and Tomb Raider graphic novels.

Do any of these books make your summer reads list? Do you gravitate towards something completely different like sci-fi, westerns or historical fiction in the summer? Let me know in the comments!

I’ve been wanting to reread the Han series before the movie launches on Netflix in August! It does feel very summery so I think it’s a sign lol! Liked your post!

Oh that’s a brilliant idea, I should also reread the series before I watch the movie!

I think I’m going to. I have until Mid August so that gets me time to clear some ARCs out of the way before! Hope you get to reread them too! Happy Reading!

Now that the movie is coming, I really want to read TATBILB! Years ago I would have never considered picking them up, but I’m such a contemporary mood rn! Great post!

I’m totally with you about the summery reads most likely being contemporary. I mean, just one genre is a bit much to stay with, but it’s what I always get drawn back to each summer. I sadly haven’t read too many of your contemporary choices! D: But they do sound great for summer. Wonderful picks! 🙂

Thanks! I definitely don’t stick to one genre but I know we both will read more than 5 books in an entire summer so we’ve got plenty of time to mix it up.

Ahahahaha very very true! I remember I tried to stick to a whole month of contemporaries last year and that was it for me. Too much. XD

Can you usually plan out things or are you just a straight mood reader? I mean, I know you plan it out in the weekly wrap-ups, but still.

I vaguely plan. But since I usually have about 3 or more audiobooks that come in at the same time (looking at you Life L1k3, Smoke in the Sun, Legendary, and As Old As Time right now, with Warstorm just becoming available) and a bunch of physical books I have a general plan but just end up reading whatever one strikes my fancy at the time.

Like last week I wanted to read Smoke in the Sun, but the audiobook was just making me angry so I switched to Legendary and requested the physical copy of Smoke (which still hasn’t come). But I also have the physical copy of Legendary checked out because sometimes I end up getting the same book in both formats at the same time.

So that’s an impossible question to answer and why this response was waaaaay too long. I give myself a selection to choose from for the month and then my moods take me where they will. Eventually, I’ll read everything that month that I checked out from the library. If that makes any sense.

ahahahaha oh NO. I think that’s the worst part of the library is because they always seem to get swoop in at the same time and then you’re just looking at all of them like but I want to read them alllllll??? Way too many. But I do like that plan.
