I ordered this crate because I could easily guess what book was going to be in it and I decided I needed Shadows and Secrets! (Which for some reason I cannot get right and keep calling it Secrets and Spies.)
You’ve been warned and only spoilers come beyond this point.
OwlCrate Shadows and Secrets Pin
Owlcrates generally come with a little pin and this one basically tells you how to make a shadow puppet bird.
“When you can’t beat the odds, change the game” Pillowcase from StellaBookishArt
I love this pillowcase and design so much, but there is nothing about my bedroom or library that matches this colour scheme so I have no idea what to do with this. (My bedroom is grey and mint, so much clash.)
Bones Coffee Company Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt Coffee
Uhhh, yay? No, but really, I don’t like chocolate or coffee so I can’t say whether this is good or not because I’ll never try it.
Three Sisters Apothecary Handcrafted Bar Soap – Wild Berry Shadowhunter
My first thought is I hope I’m not allergic to it and my second is why do Shadowhunters smell like wild berries? Shouldn’t that be the Fae? Oh well, I’m still going to try it.
Harry Potter Pencils
These are cute little homages to Harry Potter that make you feel special but don’t scream Harry Potter if you want to be under the radar. Like a ninja-Potter fan.
The Young Elites Vinyl Sticker by
Even though the Young Elites isn’t my favourite series, this sticker is absolutely gorgeous and I’m enamoured – but I have no idea what to do with it. Any ideas?
Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody
I loved the premise of this book a wee bit more than the execution, but I still really enjoyed it. You can read my review here and I’m happy that I own this special edition! The most exciting part is that it is directly signed by the author, unlike the usual book plate that is included.
Ace of Shades Postcards and Letter from the Author
I somehow managed to misplace my pencils between writing this post, taking the photos and then realizing I didn’t have a layout photo so I had to go back and find everything… except the pencils. (Which I then found in the same box I put everything else. I swear they were stolen then replaced. I cannot explain my ability to miss them the first two times I checked.)
The theme for May is: Fight Like A Girl. “We’re firm believers that the world could always use a bit more girl power! Our May box is inspired by some of our all-time favorite literary heroines.
Our book pick is a brutal Viking-inspired tale featuring a main character who is a warrior in every sense of the word. It’s a story about fighting for what you believe in, the bonds between family, and what loyalty truly means.
The book will also be an OwlCrate exclusive edition which will be SIGNED by the author!
There will be kick-butt goodies inspired by characters from Children of Blood and Bone, A Court of Wings and Ruin, Harry Potter, Six of Crows and more! This is a super packed box that is absolutely filled with awesome items!
We can’t wait to share sneak peeks with you later this month…trust us, this box is epic! We hope you’re as excited as we are for this theme!” – Owlcrate
If this box hadn’t sold out before I decided if I was going to get it, I definitely would have ended up ordering the May box as it sounded amazing!
You can watch my unboxing here!
Hope you enjoyed my unboxing, happy reading!
