Camp Half-Blood Confidential – Rick Riordan

Camp Half-Blood Confidential
Camp Half-Blood Confidential by Rick Riordan

My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

Camp Half-Blood Confidential is a demi-god’s guide to camp told through short stories written by the campers, sales pitches delivered by a geyser god and a series of pictures. Readers who are familiar with Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson series (and the Trials of Apollo) will recognize familiar sites like the Big House or Bunker 9. The book doesn’t introduce readers to any new features it just gives a few more details to the ones we know. Some areas just have an enthusiastic description courtesy of Pete the Palikos and accompanying picture, while others also have a tale told by familiar campers.

The book is quite short and will likely only take you an hour or two to read. I would recommend this book to people who love to immerse themselves in the world of Percy Jackson and want to read everything about the world that Rick Riordan has created. Those who are more casual fans will probably not see the need to pick this up. While it is enjoyable, it didn’t really add anything significant to my reading experience and I personally would be more likely to borrow it from my local library than purchase it for my shelf.
