My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

As I mentioned in my Beast Boy review, I didn’t watch too much of the Teen Titans tv show nor did I read many of their comics. I know the characters, but not well enough to be an expert on their backstories and origins, nuances of their powers, etc. All I can speak to is how much I enjoyed this graphic novel. I loved Raven’s storyline even more than Beast Boy’s. I had been reading some comics before bed and thought it was just early enough that I could read a little of Raven and then go to bed. I didn’t. I just lay there in bed reading until the book was over and then I was sad because the book was over.

I wasn’t sure where the story was leading in the first few pages, but was soon engrossed in the mystery of Raven, the budding friendship between her and her “cousin”, and what that shadow bird was. I found the story to be entertaining and engaging. It was supported by fantastic artwork (the same illustrator that I raved about for Beast Boy.) His choice of color palettes for each story are purposeful and draw you in. It’s not bright and in your face, but each color makes an impact.

Now that I have read two of the DC Ink Teen Titans graphic novels, I am even more excited to read the upcoming Beast Boy Loves Raven graphic novel. Highly recommend this graphic novel series and cannot wait to see what incredible stories and art Garcia and Picolo bring us next!
