Weekly Wrap Up: March 23-29

How has everyone been fairing with staying at home, have you gotten more reading done? This upcoming week will be the first week I’ll be allowed to stay home (we had to go into work previously) so I’m excited because I don’t have to commute 1+ hours to the library each way and hopefully that’ll give me more reading time. I have so many books to catch up on, I don’t know what to tackle first!

I have done absolutely no reading with my extra time (well, sort of, but it’s complicated) but a lot of baking and hounding Mandy about the instragram account. (She loves it, I’m sure.) Good luck catching up on your TBR!

  My mom and my best friend have also been doing a lot of baking, so weird! Unfortunately, I still have to do all of my normal stuff so beyond my commute I don’t have a lot of extra time – so I’m fitting in some physical reading here and there, but lost my audiobook listening time so I guess it all averages out. Haha

    I think with all the extra free time so many people have, baking has become an obvious first choice of activity. Is your business still open? I hope they are taking all the precautions to keep you safe!!

    My library isn’t open this week although it was last week and it keeps going back and forth. They’re talking about having us do curbside pickup, which isn’t particularly safe for my staff… but you want people to be able to get books, so it’s tough.

    I hope your library makes a definitive decision that keeps staff and customers safe. It’s really not easy either way. Libraries in my country have been reduced to online only for a month now, and will continue for the next month. I don’t know how much curbside pickup was considered… It really is tough.

    It’s one of those things where OLIS (the Office of Library and Information Services) in my state have essentially stopped all services, delivery, and haven’t advised curbside pickup – but the Governor has challenged everyone to read every day so it’s almost like she expects people will have access to the materials? Only a few of us are actually working though during this time (others are full time and just taking this as a nice extended vacation), so some are worried that they’ll stop paying us at some point even though we’re working. It’s just a crazy world we live in. Have you had to adjust to online teaching?

    That… really makes no sense? Reading is super important but there has to be other priorities right now. They wouldn’t expect you to work without pay, would they? I’m actually unemployed now, my business had to close because of the virus.
