I missed having a topic to do for Top 5 Tuesday last week, did you? Oh, bookish pet peeves. Mistreat my book and we might not be friends anymore.
Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme that the lovely Bionic Bookworm does. If you are interested in doing any of her topics on your blog she welcomes it! Don’t forget to check out her upcoming topics if you’re interested in participating in future Top 5’s! Be sure to check out her post here!
Bookish Pet Peeves:
Stickers on Covers
Oh yeah, so easy to peel… it totally doesn’t leave a gross residue on my book. Thanks, guys.
Folding the Pages
Please don’t.
Writing in the Book
Oh gosh, no. I know you want to remember things, but that’s what post-it notes are for.
Cover Changes
Sometimes it makes me so happy to see a change, but guys I really want my books to match!
Cracked Spines
Yes, yes you think it’s lovely but then I have to spend hours at the library trying to glue the poor thing back together because it inevitably has fallen apart from the abuse. And what usually happens is we have to replace it or more likely no longer have the book because we can’t afford that.
What books have succumbed to your bookish pet peeves? Have any friendships been ruined as a result? Let me know in the comments!
Book borrowing almost ruined one friendship when said book was returned with pen marks.. 😦

I dog ear pages of my books, but if I am borrowing a book I make sure to take really really good care of it.

It may not be the way I treat my own books but I think you can do what you want with your property. I’m glad that you take care books when you borrow them. I’ve lent books to people and never gotten them back… So I’m not prone to do it anymore.

Yes, yes, this whole list, yes!! My skin is crawling right now at the thought of stickers on a cover. Why the hell is this a thing!?! And I laughed so hard at the “folding the pages” comment. Simply put – please don’t! LOL!
Thanks for participating – added you to the list!

OH DEAR LORD. i cannot stand when I see writing in a book *besides the authors of course* I’m cringing and crying at once, books deserve more respect??????
I want to tell those people —-that’s why humans invented sticky notes—– to protect books from being abused by pens ❤ ❤ ADORE your blog and bio!!!! ❤

Haha thank you! Oh my gosh, I own so many different post it notes… I’m kind of tempted to carry them around and hand them out to people who mistreat books.

COVER CHANGES!! AHHHH!!
I’ve never minded writing/highlighted in books for academic purposes, but if it isn’t for a class and you didn’t ask my permission to write in it…then GO AWAY.

I get academic purposes, but I never do it myself so…
But for the rest of it, please give books the love they deserve haha I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Great post, cover changes infuriate me and I hate when my books have stickers on them.
