Series I Want to Start This Year – Top 5 Tuesday

As usual, this is way more than five series but once I started going down the Goodreads TBR hole… I didn’t know how to find my way back out. There’s no way that I would be able to read all of these new series in addition to the books that I already know I will be reading this year – but I hope to get to at least a few of them! I tried my best to limit them so I ended up with five young adult series and five adult series.

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme that the lovely Bionic Bookworm does. If you are interested in doing any of her topics on your blog she welcomes it! Don’t forget to check out her upcoming topics if you’re interested in participating in future Top 5’s! Be sure to check out her post here!

YA Series I Want to Start This Year:

  • Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

  • The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

  • Shattered Realms by Cindy Williams Chima

  • The Nevernight Chronicle by Jay Kristoff

  • Jackaby by William Ritter

Adult Series I Want to Start This Year:

  • Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

  • Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan

  • The Shannara Trilogy by Terry Brooks

  • Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

  • Villians by V.E. Schwab

What series are you guys hoping to read this year? Have you read any of the ones on my list and think I should get to them soon? Let me know in the comments!

I hope I can start Villains this year. I absolutely adore Schwab’s writing! And I’ve only heard good things about the Nevernight series. So, I think I might be picking that up soonish as well. (=

I didn’t remember that you haven’t read Nevernight yet…….. please do!! That series is one of the best i’ve ever read! He’s so brutal and unforgiving. My jaw dropped so many times while reading that book! Great list! (I haven’t read Outlander yet either so you aren’t alone) happy reading!
    Thanks for participating 🙂

    Me too on Nevernight!

Game of Thrones and Wheel of Time are both intimidating series. WoT more so than GoT, since who knows how long before GRRM finally releases the next book. Both well worth the time, though. Good luck!

My dad is always trying to push both of those series on me, so I know eventually I really need to get to them. I picked up the Wheel of Time graphic novel sort of as a teaser for myself and I really enjoyed it so I’m looking forward to the series.

WARNING: The first book is tough to get through. It gets good in the last quarter or so, but it seems to take a long time to get there!

Good to know! I never DNF books, so I wouldn’t let that put me off but I will definitely keep that in mind if I’m feeling uninspired by it.

I read The Darkest Minds last year – I really enjoyed it! Rebel of the Sands is one I want to start as well. 🙂

I hope you enjoy all of these!

I loved Bracken’s Passenger/Wayfarer duology, so the Darkest Minds has been on my radar for a while now but for some reason I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Haha yeah…. I tend to have a very difficult time limiting my book answers for these top five lists. I originally had more, so this was me being selective!
