Books That Need a Spin-Off – Top 5 Tuesday

Have you guys joined in on Top 5 Tuesday? These prompts legitimately make you think and they’re so good! I think the purpose of a spin-off is generally not to involve the same characters but have it set in the same world… but for some of these, I ignored that sentiment and just want more of my favourite characters. That’s okay, right?

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme that the lovely Bionic Bookworm does. If you are interested in doing any of her topics on your blog she welcomes it! Here is a list of her upcoming topics if you’re interested in participating in future Top 5’s! Be sure to check out her books that need a spin-off post here!

Top 5 Books That Need a Spin-Off:

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

Who doesn’t need more of this gang in their life?

Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Guys, I need a Marauders series in my life. Can we make that happen? Or at least more wonderful books written solely by J.K. set in that world? Please?

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

This is kind of cheating because we know we’ll be getting more stories, but I legitimately want another series revolving around our Inner Circle loves in addition to seeing more of the world.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

The idea of worlds diverging and creating four completely different Londons was fantastic and the story was so good that I just need more.

Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

I was so torn about putting this on the list (and it battled it out in my head with the Chronicles of Narnia) because it’s one of those series that it can’t happen with. But I can still dream, right?

I want to know what you could possibly want as a spin-off from LOTR, lol. There are so many things already written, some things half-written (and due to be finished by Christopher Tolkien), and so many things that are still being discovered in his papers. I feel like pretty much anything you could want has been covered. I guess maybe something involving what happens in the Grey Lands after Frodo sails there?

That’s tough. But I would have liked J.R.R. Tolkien to have been able to finish them, rather than Christopher. Yes he has the papers, is going to finish the half-written stuff and knows the world, but it’s not quite the same.

Nice list! Ooh more Chronicles of Narnia books would be good. Seems like there are endless adventures in Narni he could have written about. Or maybe more about the beginning of Aslan.

Haha yes, she needs a nice Marauders’ petition. But I’m pretty sure she knows how much everyone wants more. That’s probably why she wrote that little Marauders piece for Pottermore.

I mean, Christopher Tolkien has published dozens of LOTR stories. Beren and Luthien came out either late last year or early this year and was supposed to be REALLY good. Those are kind of like spin-offs…

Yeah, kind of… doesn’t mean it wouldn’t have been cool if J.R.R. had been able to write them!

I think that large chunks of them ARE written by dad, but that Christopher mostly just compiled them and filled in some of the blanks.

I concur so much with SOC, A Court of Thorns series, and ADSOM. I’m so eager to see what else could happen in those worlds and I just want to get back to them. *here’s hoping for so many more* Wonderful choices, Kyera! 🙂
